SPECTRUM OF SELF

In Spectrum of Self, the male figure exists at the meeting point between identity and expression. Defined by shadow and silhouette, the body remains grounded and recognisable, while vibrant streams of colour flow around and through the form, transforming the figure into something both personal and universal.

The work explores the relationship between visibility and self-discovery. The dark silhouette suggests the aspects of identity that remain hidden, while the surrounding colours evoke emotion, memory, desire and individuality. Rather than presenting identity as fixed, the piece celebrates it as something fluid, evolving and deeply personal.

Strong architectural lines create structure and order, contrasting with the organic movement of colour that appears to break free from those boundaries. This tension reflects the experience of navigating societal expectations while embracing authenticity. The figure moves forward, not defined by labels, but by the freedom to exist fully as oneself.
