SPECTRUM BENEATH THE SURFACE

In Spectrum Beneath the Surface, the figure rests at the boundary between concealment and revelation. Reclining within reflective waters, the body appears suspended in a dreamlike state, partially obscured by darkness while illuminated by a cascade of colour that emerges from within. The composition evokes a moment of stillness where identity, memory and emotion converge.

The rainbow light is not presented as decoration but as symbolism. It flows across the body and its reflection like an inner truth becoming visible, suggesting the complexity of self-discovery and the courage required to embrace authenticity. The figure’s posture remains introspective, yet the surrounding colour transforms the scene from one of solitude into one of quiet liberation.

The reflective surface plays a central role in the work, blurring the distinction between reality and perception. The viewer is invited to consider the relationship between the outward self and the inner self, and the ways in which personal identity is often revealed gradually rather than all at once. What appears hidden beneath the surface becomes the very thing that illuminates the image.
