BODY IN COLOUR

In Body in Colour, the male form is reimagined through abstraction, reduced to a series of interconnected shapes, tones and flowing contours. Rather than depicting the body through anatomical detail, the work explores how identity, emotion and presence can be communicated through colour, rhythm and form alone.

The figure emerges from a landscape of overlapping shapes, where boundaries dissolve and individual elements merge into a unified whole. Deep blues, muted earth tones and soft accents of colour create a visual language that feels both contemporary and timeless. The body becomes more than a physical presence; it transforms into a symbol of complexity, fluidity and self-expression.

Drawing inspiration from modernist abstraction while remaining rooted in the human figure, the work challenges traditional representations of masculinity. Strength is expressed not through dominance or certainty, but through openness, adaptability and the coexistence of multiple identities within a single form.

Part of an ongoing exploration of masculinity, queer identity and the evolving relationship between body and self, Body in Colour invites viewers to move beyond surface appearances. It celebrates the idea that identity is not fixed, but layered, multifaceted and constantly in motion. Through abstraction, the work reveals a deeper portrait of what it means to be seen.
