In Soft Armour, the male body is presented not as a symbol of strength, but as a site of vulnerability. Wrapped in delicate bands that appear to both conceal and reveal, the figure exists in a state of tension between protection and exposure. The soft, painterly treatment dissolves clear boundaries, allowing flesh, shadow and fabric to merge into a single emotional landscape.
The work explores contemporary masculinity through the lens of restraint, intimacy and self-preservation. Rather than presenting the body as an object of certainty, it becomes something fluid and unresolved — shaped by expectation, memory and personal experience. The bindings can be read as armour, protection, pressure or identity, inviting viewers to project their own interpretations onto the figure.
Created with a muted palette and atmospheric depth, the piece sits within a broader conversation around queer visibility, emotional openness and the complexities of being seen.
